My name is Camille Speekenbrink, born in 1998, and I live in The Hague

I graduated from the HKU – Bachelor of Fine Art in 2025. In my work, I focus on capturing snapshots of moments.

A moment can change, distort, or disappear. I do not seek to hold on to these moments, but rather to consciously experience and value the unique character they hold.

I aim to give these momens space to exist, to change, and to fade by recontextualising it within my work.

I mostly work on large-scale paper using charcoal. I begin with collected photographs or fragments. All these separate images and experiences form a web: a layered network of memories, associations, and sensory impressions.

In my work, all of this comes together into a new, complete experiential world in which reality, experience, imagination, and observation continuously influence and strengthen one another. Each work functions as an experiential diary, in which different layers are allowed to coexist and interact freely.

Through my work, I am not just translating my own perspective on this experiential world. I also invite the viewer to (re)discover their own stories and connections. Each part of my work is an invitation to pause and reconsider the value and richness of the unique collective of experience.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my work.
